It is finished … but is it?

Just finished shooting and editing four versions of a standard presentation video. The way I see it is that we have one standard presentation – bare bones, non-detailed. As separate pieces, we have one presentation for each of our ventures. Thus, when the need arises, we can plug in each venture’s presentation into the standard one, reducing time, size, etc.
The good thing is that the project up unto the 24th of Feb is over. But will it remain so for longer? Will more tweaking be done? Ahh well, that’s all part of life, isn’t it? Do something… undo it if it doesn’t work… tweak it if it seems to work…

Appendix

Well, the good news is that Sheryl’s come through her surgery and is now at home recovering. She should be “back to the grind” from Monday, I guess. The bad news is that they couldn’t remove her appendix because of some internal complication and infection. This was cleaned out thoroughly and they’ll review her case again after 3 months when, if the appendix is still infected, they’ll perform the “true” appendectomy!

As for me, my life reminds me of the old saying which ends, “… some folks have greatness thrust upon them.” Well at work, I constantly find things being thrust on me and – not wanting to appear incompetent, irrelevant and immaterial – I agree to try my hand. Right now, I’m one of the video-graphers, video-editors, presentation-makers and, though I have some skills in all three, I feel this is not entirely what I’m cut out to be. I would prefer to contribute more in terms of thinking, strategies, guiding, training … rather than physically doing things. I feel I’ve outgrown the doing stage. Ahh well, ce la vie, ce la vie!

So now I’m off to a video-shoot. This should be followed by an all-night editing session to home on my time (sigh) and then building the edited clips into our presentation. On Tuesday, another similar session is threatened. Will try to continue the saga…

Moving on … or catching up?

Just downloaded (a couple of nights ago) Windows7 Beta and am currently test-driving it on my personal ‘puter. I must say it is quite good. Recognized everything – wi-fi, printer, etc and works just fine. Display of certain websites in IE8 can be improved but the Windows Engg Team have thought of this. They’ve provided a “Compatibility View” button to click so that the page is properly displayed in what I think is IE7.

All in all, a great experience for me. Hope they let me keep the product after the beta testing is over :-) (hint, hint!!)
