Steve Jobs' Resignation Letter ...

Steve Jobs has officially resigned as CEO of Apple, and here is his resignation letter (- one of the most touching and direct communications I have ever had the "good fortune" to read -) to Apple and you, the Apple community (quote marks and formatting are mine.)

``To the Apple Board of Directors and the Apple Community:

``I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.

``I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.

``As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.

``I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.

``I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.

Steve''

OS X Lion 10.7.1 Released by Apple

OS X Daily reports that Mac OS X 10.7.1 update has been released by Apple for all OS X Lion users to download.

I was happy to note that one of the most significant bug fixes pertains to dropping WiFi issues, so I hastened to download the update via the Apple->Software Update route. Other fixes, report OS X Daily, should address issues with HDMI and optical audio, Safari video, and migrating data to OS X Lion.

The update - at 17.4 MB through Software Update for most Mac users - took place fairly smoothly. There are also direct manual updates from Apple at:
